About Anna & TheReelAnna.com
My name’s Anna and I believe the best, most lasting, and authentic growth happens when you know who you are. I have my B.A. in Counseling and I am an INFJ – the rarest personality type!
In 2015, my first blog “Annamotion” was born while I finished up my degree and earned my place as Valedictorian. Its tagline was “moving forward, inspiring growth” because I believe there’s no standstill in life – either you’re charging forward or slipping backward. I aspire to be a woman whose personal growth momentum swings between steady and explosive and count it a privilege to help others do the same.
Two years later, I’ve learned more, have an even greater focus, and my mission has only deepened. I relaunched my website in September 2017 as The Reel Anna because of my new married name. As Mrs. Reel, I got “reeled” into tons of punny jokes and decided to run with it. This is the real Anna. Vulnerabilities, insecurities, flaws, bravery, momentum, lessons learned, and all.
I believe that lasting positive growth begins with getting real with yourself.
My story began in high school. I knew I was an introvert, but didn’t understand what that meant and had a lot of negative misconceptions about it from the media and people around me. I heard “Stop being such an introvert!” more times than I care to count and began questioning if something was wrong with me. Self doubt and feelings of inadequacy overwhelmed me until I read a book called The Introvert Advantage that changed my entire perception of self and ultimately, changed my life.
I learned that introverts tend to be better at written communication and found myself feeling energized and understood instead of alienated. I learned about the Myers Briggs personality types, found an INFJ Refuge Facebook page, and finally felt at home. The more I learned about myself, the more I grew. I shortened my tagline to “know yourself, grow yourself,” and finally realized that people are too different to fit into one neat little box.
Personality has a mega impact on our tendencies, motivations, strengths, weaknesses, desires, goals, and daily lives. This is exactly why I’m so passionate about helping people learn about themselves. It’s the birthplace of authentic growth! You must dive deeper than the surface and swim down to heart level to find out what motivates YOU. The more you know about yourself, the more you’ll be able to modify advice to fit your own unique needs and wiring.
As for me, I’m a woman who loves psychology and is big into personality types. I am an artist, writer, musician, creative, dreamer, thinker, and multipotentialite. I have a huge heart for loving and helping others and if I can encourage, inspire, or guide just one person, then it’s all been worth it.
